Wendel Rosen Continues Partnership With Rebuilding Together Oakland; 14th Project Completed
OAKLAND, Calif., May 30, 2018 – For the 14th consecutive year, Wendel, Rosen, Black & Dean LLP continues its long tradition of community service with Rebuilding Together Oakland/East Bay (RTO), a program aiming to improve lives of the growing population of low-income homeowners. Over two weekends in April and May, the firm’s attorneys and staff collaborated for improvement projects on the Oakland home of an elderly couple. In addition to these hands-on efforts, Partners Les Hausrath and Matthew Graham currently serve on the RTO Board of Directors.
For more than 20 years, RTO has brought volunteers and communities together to improve the homes and lives of the growing population of low-income homeowners in need, as well as community facilities, in Oakland and the East Bay. Every April, RTO leads the Oakland/East Bay effort for National Rebuilding Day. This year, RTO will see more than 2,000 volunteers complete more than 40 critical home repair and community improvement projects in the area.
Wendel Rosen’s 2018 project brought together attorneys, staff and firm clients for two full Saturdays of improvement-focused labor on the home of an elderly woman, who has lived in the home and cared for her ailing husband for many years. The Wendel Rosen team partnered with Bell Investment Advisors to make significant and necessary improvements to the house, including building handrails for both staircases, cleaning and painting the exterior, repairing and rebuilding the front and back porches, and cleaning and removing debris from the homeowner’s backyard and garage.
“Our team at Wendel Rosen enjoys participating in Rebuilding Together Oakland every year – highlighted by our long list of volunteers. We value these weekends as an opportunity to give back to our community and to directly participate in an activity that helps make a difference,” said Candace Neal, a Real Estate Practice attorney and team leader of the firm’s RTO building project. “Community service is deeply rooted in our firm’s culture and history, and our participation in RTO is a tradition that has been adopted seamlessly by our younger staff. The new generation of Wendel Rosen attorneys has picked up the torch and will continue to carry it onward.”
