Wendel Rosen LLP, the largest law firm in the East Bay representing businesses throughout the state, announces that Robert W. Selna has been elevated to partner, effective July 1.
“Rob knows his way around heavily regulated environments. He has become a ‘go to’ counsellor for clients navigating Northern California’s complex zoning and permitting schemes and he understands the delicate balance between environmental, political, and societal pressures. Rob’s cannabis work demonstrates that he’s a whip-smart advocate for clients working to establish and expand their operations in a rapidly evolving legal landscape,” said Wendel Rosen’s Managing Partner Daniel Rapaport. “Rob has proven to be an influential and rational voice for his clients in these tricky areas, and his elevation is well deserved.”
Selna’s elevation comes at a time of continued growth for Wendel Rosen, which has added four new attorneys in 2019 and continues its pursuit of talent to complement the firm’s diverse legal services. Wendel Rosen counts 65 attorneys on its roster.
Since its formal launch three years ago, Selna has chaired the firm’s Cannabis Industry Group, where his work involves advising cannabis companies and property owners on local and state regulations, real estate transactions, tax issues and litigation. He represents other business clients in real estate, land use and regulatory matters, advising on everything from zoning and permitting requirements to environmental and subdivision laws. Selna also handles transactional work, including leases and purchase and sale agreements.
In addition to his practice, Selna sits on the board of the Oakland Builders Alliance and is a member of the National Cannabis Industry Association, California Cannabis Industry Association and SPUR. He is a frequent speaker and writer on cannabis-related topics nationwide.
