Rob is an active member of the firm’s Land Use, Real Estate, and Cannabis practices, and represents clients in a wide range of transactional and regulatory matters. He chairs the firm’s Cannabis practice group and frequently writes and speaks on related legal issues.
Land Use and Real Estate
Rob represents a diverse group of clients, including businesses and developers. He advises clients on everything from zoning and planning issues, to environmental and subdivision laws. His transactional work includes leases and purchase and sale agreements. He has extensive experience working with city and state regulatory agencies, boards, and commissions.
Rob advises cannabis clients on licensing, regulatory matters and legislation, contracts, real estate transactions, litigation, taxes, and other matters. He frequently publishes articles and speaks at national and international forums on cannabis issues. In addition, he serves on the Facilities Design Committee of the National Cannabis Industry Association and is a member of the California Cannabis Industry Association and International Cannabis Bar Association.
Broad Experience and Insight
Prior to practicing law, Rob enjoyed an extensive career as a newspaper reporter covering land use, real estate, and local government for publications such as the San Francisco Chronicle. He also served as the chief of staff to a San Francisco Supervisor, assisting in citywide legislation on a range of zoning and environmental issues. With longstanding Oakland roots, Rob is active in his community, serving on several boards and as the chair of a neighborhood non-profit organization.
