| We are looking
for attorneys
Wendel Rosens practice combines cutting-edge legal
expertise with an old-fashioned commitment to client service
and maintaining a cooperative work environment for attorneys
and staff. We are looking for attorneys who are eager and
able to assume significant responsibility early in their careers,
but we dont ask them to completely sacrifice their personal
lives in the bargain.
The firm offers attorneys a level of responsibility and client
contact that can take years to attain at mega-firms.
Our team-oriented approach to client service means that attorneys
collaborate creatively among diverse practice groups and work
closely with clients to make strategic and tactical decisions.
We are constantly seeking talented and energetic junior attorneys
and encourage all qualified candidates to apply.

Training & Professional
Development
The firm believes that skilled training, mentoring and feedback
are key to attorney success. We encourage associates to attend
training programs offered by law schools, bar associations,
etc., at firm expense. We also invite outside consultants
to provide specialized training sessions in-house on topics
such as legal writing, effective billing and time management,
PowerPoint presentation software, and California conflicts
rules and procedures.
We believe that much of junior attorneys training takes
place in the day-to-day working relationships that develop
between associates and partners. The firm assigns a senior
associate or partner mentor to each new associate.
Mentors accept special responsibility for their associates
training and career development and make themselves available
to discuss any issues of interest or concern.
Associates receive informal mid-year reviews from supervising
partners. We urge associates to seek feedback from attorneys
and staff with whom they work on a regular basis.
Work Assignments
We assign work to new associates on the basis of the associates
preferences and the current needs of the firm. We recognize
that new lawyers are sometimes uncertain about the area in
which they wish to ultimately practice. Transfers between
departments and practice sections are not unusual. Although
the firm has no formal rotation program for new associates,
our teamwork structure often helps attorneys to develop experiences
that draw on several different practice areas.
Summer Associates Program
Our summer associates program is designed to expose law students
to the typical work experience of a new associate, while introducing
them to the diversity of our practice and our people. Summer
associates are encouraged to work in as many different areas
as time permits. Work assignments relate to ongoing client
matters and offer practical exposure to the firms practice.
Typical activities undertaken by summer associates might include
drafting motions, contracts and research memoranda; assisting
in discovery and diligence activities; and attending depositions,
client conferences, closings, oral arguments and trials.
Summer associates are also encouraged to take part in after
work social outings with our attorneys and staff. In
past summers, these events have included Oakland As
baseball games, San Francisco Bay cruises, golf, and casual
gatherings at attorneys homes. We believe that it is
important for our summer associates to get to know us personally
to find out why we like working with one another, our clients
and our community.
We strive to hire summer associates who are diverse in their
backgrounds and experiences. If you are a second-year law
