Stephen is an attorney in the firm’s Real Estate Practice Group. He comes to the firm with experience serving in a corporate law department for a major national clothing retailer. He has negotiated and drafted numerous retail leases and amendments for stores throughout North America, as well as corporate facilities, including offices and distribution centers. Stephen has prepared settlement agreements, demand letters and notices of litigation, as well as evaluated the strength of potential claims related to contract interpretation, CAM charges, and expense audits. He also has experience with tax issues as they relate to commercial real estate transactions, including Proposition 13 and transfers of ownership. Prior to attending law school, he worked for a California-based bank in the wholesale lending group, where he focused on due diligence, compliance, and documentation for secured and unsecured financing for commercial borrowers throughout the state.
